We’re all aware of the many environmental benefits of hybrid vehicle technology, but did you know that nearly every component of a hybrid HV battery can be recycled?
As hybrid vehicle technology becomes an accepted mainstream form of transport, Toyota believes that the non-renewable resources in hybrid HV batteries should be retained and recycled.
To help raise awareness of this, Toyota Motor Corporation Australia has launched the Hybrid HV Battery Recycling Program - and is offering you a cash rebate when you return or a discount when you return and replace a hybrid HV battery.
Hybrid technology is an important part of Toyota's global strategy for more sustainable transport. Toyota is launching this initiative as a means of promoting and reinforcing recycling in response to global resource limitations. When a hybrid HV battery is recycled in excess of 98 per cent of the battery materials are diverted from landfill, and all toxic elements are removed.
Toyota Motor Corporation Australia is offering two incentives:
- a $100 cash rebate when a recovered hybrid HV battery is returned, or
- a discount of $500 off the purchase of a replacement hybrid HV battery when you return & purchase a new hybrid HV battery.
The rebate or discount is available at all Toyota dealers around Australia, including Phil Gilbert Toyota.
Toyota globally has led the way in developing hybrid vehicle technology. It had a hybrid HV battery recycling process in place before the launch of first-generation Prius in Australia in 2001.
As of June 2018, Toyota had sold over 85,000 hybrid vehicles in Australia.
